Guys and Ladies, just heard the news about some lovely people we have had the pleasure of chating to that have lost what they have worked ofr because someone thought it would be a good idea to invite a journalist to a meet and greet. As a couple we were actually due to go to that meet and we are so glad we didnt! Why should we be vilifield in the press for our private lives? Surely that is sexual discrimination? Personally some of us have careers that are very press sensitive and could not afford for that reason to be plastered in the sunday filth, thus as a result we are no longer atempting to attend meet and greets, instead we have as a couple decided it will be best for us to pursue this on other shores, ie amsterdam and in europe in the selected clubs. We live in a nanny state which is infested with jealous, insecure, viral manipulative people who THRIVE on the misery of others, which is why these pathetic tabloids, "now" "heat" "ok!" and other invasive arms of the "free press" invade, infest and ruin the lives of others and we as a nation clearly applaud these acts by buying these thereby funding more of them I am not vilifiling all members of the press, i have the utmost respect for the real journalists and a heap of praise for those who risk more than a job to bring us the news, i do however believe that privacy laws should be reviewed and those who earn a living from the misery of others deserve to catch raving syphillius (spell checker failed me on that) and wither. the poll!:::: Should it be applied that everyone attending a meet and greet sign a legal waiver, to the effect that any disclosure of persons, acts, or places witnessed herein be opening themselves and anyone involved in the printing, airing, or distribution of such information to a legal consequences? yes no bit pissed at this as you may have picked from the rant.

Got to say I agree with you and we are very much in the public eye so we have taken the decision to only play abroad now. To be honest the meet and greet thing doesn't really do it for us anyway, we much prefer the excitement of a club. This hasn't really been a hard choice for us as we just seem to get messed around here and our lives are to busy to waste time - this isnt to say we wont meet couples but after a recent experience where we thought we had finally met the right one it turns out we were just wasting our time so we are more cautious! I cannot understand the fascination with this kind of tittle tattle here, we thought it was bad in UK (where we both originally came from!) but it is nothing compared to here, at least in UK you can visit a club, chat, play and enjoy yourself without worry and its even better in Amsterdam as you say! Think this has turned into a rant but I fell better now, thanks for bringing it up. LOL C&R x

I think an argument could be made for breach of privacy for those people who have been published.

I feel very much with you with regards to the issue of social condemnation. I dislike pretending, and I also feel uncomfortable with hiding anything. I am what I am, and what I am is a woman who needs relationships - not just sex - with more than only her husband. We're both comfortable and fine with this, and it never occurred to me to try and make a big secret out of it until a close friend pointed out that if people were to find out, they could well take it out on our children. I'm feeling very sad today, because that's true. I don't really give a shit about what the neighbours think of me, but if others will be hurt by people guessing what I do behind closed doors, I'm going to have no choice but be more cloak and dagger. Where journalists are concerned, while I agree the rags do so much damage and often do it through outright lies, some better publications do a service. I'm thinking of an article which appeared in I think the Independent a while ago. It gave a positive, unbiased portrayal of swingers, which contributed to me and Bull realising there are perfectly well-adjusted people who have similar sexual needs to ours. Boo

I suppose most people have the same view as newbies1ster, who wouldn't be pissed off if there name or photo was splashed across some Sunday rag, like most people on the site i have attended meets and i wouldn't of liken to think there was journo there sitting beside me, what i do in my spare time is my business and no one else's except for the people who i am with, Sure we all live in a country thats so narrow minded in the public eye that no matter how much u try to explain why u lead a swinging life, some ignorant idiots are never going to grasp why u do it!!!!!!

I am a journalist myself, but I have to say the pieces in the Sunday World recently were bottom of the barrel stuff. People should not be put in the papers unless they are approached openly and agree to it. The sneaky way the Sunday World did it is a gross invasion of privacy and in my view unethical. They decided to condemn rather than report. The Sunday Independant magazine a number of months earlier ran a piece that was far more balanced. Publicity is no harm, but sneaky exposees are just sleazy journalism.

We agree with most of what has been said. We have been at the Nimhneach parties and found the piece in the Indo Mag fairly ok, although seemed a little preoccupied with the professional dommes. We have found most of our fun in Europe, particularly Amsterdam. Ireland is really only for horny single men looking for kink or hypocrites.
