It's a pity that Admin haven't found a way to make people's pic safe in here yet. No wonder so many are wary of putting them up in here. Now, if the site made sure that you could put a pic up and that it couldn't be taken that would great!! No wonder so many fake people in here are stealing others pics and using them! Isn't there a law about copyright protection of ones pics?? Is Admin ever going to make peoples pics safe?? Will they do this when this site becomes a pay site as such?? :und:

it only takes a simple bit of code to stop pics being copied!

Ok if it only takes a simple code to stop pic thieves then maybe someone would care to share that info with other members in here. We aren't posting any of our naughty pics otherwise!

what you are looking for is 'watermarking' which you can do in MS Paint. simply write on the photo's you wish to post something such as the address to your profile here, or an email address, making sure that the letters can't be chopped out by having them go slightly over your face.

Thanks Mugoftea will definitely try that!! Maybe the Admin here will bring in measures to protect our pics when we are paid members.

It would run to watermarks and an option to put photo's in private galleries.

Also admin, there is a bit of javascript that will stop people saving pics/viewing pic addresses. It prevent's right clicking on a pic, and pops up an alert dialog, saying whatever you want. Another idea, is to have random identifier generation on the pics, when theyre uploaded, they are assigned a random file name. Then on top, throw in the public/private galleries and watermarking. Just my 2 cents.

The right click java script won't stop most people, also when we tried it in the past there were some browser compatibility issues. The best way is to never upload a photo on any site that can be viewed by the public that you wouldn't want every man and his dog to see. The the ability to have a private gallery will help, but even with that you need to be careful who gets to see them. The watermarking will help a lot to stop other people using your photo's elsewhere and if they do turn up on another site makes it easier to have them taken down. Now I've read some posts in other threads about people spotting fake pics on profiles, some having watermakrks from other sites on them, if anyone comes across any please drop me a pm with the persons username and we will ban them and remove the photo's. Also as part of the site relaunch we will be reviewing every photo on this site and classifying them; Suitable for over 18 Not suitable for over 18 Unacceptable/Fake/Stlolen When the site is re-launched whenever people aren't logged in they won't be able view anything that we classify as not suitable for minors, this is to protect minors from seeing adult images. There's about 11,500 photos on the site so were going to be busy. After the review all remaining images will be watermarked. After that before any photo appears on the site it will need to be reviewed, so depending on how busy the site admin/moderators are there may be a slight delay but its neccesary and protects everyone involved here, I've came across a few unsavoury photo's in my time that really don't belong here and it will help to sort out the genuine from the fakers.

As a software Dev for one of the worlds largest software companies (they shall not be named) there is no effective way to stop images being downloaded as a user can always extract the image from the site cache or view the sites source code and find the images location on the websever. However what I would suggest, would be to modify the right click event on an image so it simply displays a pop up window or something just as frustrating and thus bypassing the menu which is displayed allowing them to select "save as" this shouldnt cause any browser issues.

Java script and Right-Click disable may be one thing; log-in validation may be another: but it is difficult to stop a simple screen dump/print and then a simple crop-n-save in most photo-editing software. OK. So people may say 'but the quality would be awful, they wouldn't use that'.........but we also have the question of the true intellect of thiefs (scammers even). Also, I'm not sure that the photo quality of the genuine articles are necessarily 20MByte Nikon RAW quality either (the submitted pics are highly compressed jpegs anyway) Photo-theft and fake profiles are being discussed in a number of threads in different forums. Some thoughts (as a member, and as a photographer of many years standing) on photo-theft and scammers: - A watermark (??the username??), as some already suggested, pasted into the picture by the Member may do more than most techniques to prevent theft from this site. - If one wants their identity hidden then, when taking pictures, CROP THEM AT THE TAKING STAGE. I would advise not to take a shot and then crop it in a software package and then send the image file. Nikon RAW imagery, for example, when cropped by their software does not actually crop the image within the file.....other packages will show the cropped area as the full pictures. It is only if convetered to another format may that crop be fully applied. I am not sure of other digital image systems. - I saw some comments on another thread about 'professional' photography being an indicator of 'fake profiles'. Not everyone still uses the old Polaroid camera showing a shot of the missus with a leg held up and a background of babies nappies drying over the fireplace! So, don't be put off if the photos look a little bit good......there will, surely, be other things to indicate 'fake profiles'. I must admit that some of the profiles do look dodge. And, yes, they do have that 'porno-site' look. But if the image is a good honest 'Polaroid' snap then it may not look professional, but it can still be stolen and used in a scam.....it could be yours.

Hmmmm think it's safer to just remove the pic we have up until there is a way around it or when we can have private albums in here. Thanks Admin for your advice. One thing though you mention about grading pics as such and deeming whether they are suiteable for 18 and over or under.............this is an adult site so any minor on here should be here at all really. Lots of sites do have a problem of the occasional minor finding their way on but its finding them and deleting them thats the thing. Looking forward to this site being better for us all. smile

Admin, there should be no real problems with compatibility issues now, it's an old trick at this stage.. As I said before, it would help as a deterrant, and as far as i know, you can extend that block to prevent clicking anywhere on the page. That still won't stop screen dumps, but theres no way to stop that. As to people searching through their caches, that can be an absolute pain in the hole, so I doubt many people would bother doing that.
