The Cure - Close to Me
From the album: The Head On The Door (1985)
I was never a big Cure fan but did always like this song. There are a couple of other Cure songs I like but this is my fave. It was remixed in 1990, but I think both versions are as good as each other.
"I've waited hours for this, I've made myself so sick
I wish I'd stayed asleep today
I never thought this day would end, I never thought tonight could ever be
This close to me
But if I had your face then I could make it safe and clean
If only I was sure that my head on the door was a dream"

[b:de8511a39f]Eminem - Lose Yourself[/b:de8511a39f]
From the album: 8 Mile: The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack (2002)
Another great song from another atrocious movie.
[b:de8511a39f]"And these times are so hard and it's getting even harder
Trying to feed and water my seed, plus
Teeter totter caught up between being a father and a prima donna
Baby mama drama's screaming on and too much for me to wanna stay in one spot,
Another day of monotony has gotten me to the point, I'm like a snail
I've got to formulate a plot or end up in jail or shot
Success is my only motherfucking option, failure's not
Mom, I love you, but this trailer's got to go
I cannot grow old in Salem's lot
So here I go it's my shot
Feet fail me not this maybe the only opportunity that I got
You better lose yourself in the music, the moment
You own it, you better never let it go
You only get one shot, do not miss your chance to blow
This opportunity comes once in a lifetime "[/b:de8511a39f]

[b:ba0bf7f1e9]T. Rex - 20th Century Boy[/b:ba0bf7f1e9] (1973)
Time to dust of your Glam Rock outfits & get it on with Marc Bolan & crew (Yes you did notice a pun just there). Just love this tune while out driving. Iconic video that Oasis would later pay homage to when shooting their own video for Cigarettes & Alcohol in 1994.
[b:ba0bf7f1e9]"Friends say it's fine, friends say it's good
Everybody says it's just like Robin Hood
I move like a cat, charge like a ram
Sting like a bee, babe I wanna be your man
Well it's plain to see you were meant for me, yeah
I'm your boy, your 20th century toy"[/b:ba0bf7f1e9]

[b:aea99e263f]Whitney Houston - Greatest Love Of All[/b:aea99e263f]
From the self titled debut album: Whitney Houston (1985)
Great song with a great message, and very inspirational.
[b:aea99e263f]"I believe the children are our are future
Teach them well and let them lead the way
Show them all the beauty they possess inside
Give them a sense of pride to make it easier
Let the children's laughter remind us how we used to be
I decided long ago, never to walk in anyone's shadows
If I fail, if I succeed, at least I live as I believe
No matter what they take from me
They can't take away my dignity"[/b:aea99e263f]

[b:e3d329cfc6]"I'll fix these broken things, repair your broken wings
And make sure everything's alright
My pressure on your hips, sinking my fingertips
Into every inch of you
Cause I know that's what you want me to do
This love has taken its toll on me
She said goodbye too many times before
And her heart is breaking in front of me
I have no choice cause I won't say goodbye anymore"[/b:e3d329cfc6]

Fix You - Coldplay This was always a favorite song for me, but recently got to see these guys at Oxegen and this is a song that you just need to see performed live to feel the real power of it. They absolutely blew me away - will definitely be getting a ticket for them if they come back to Ireland.
