I aint a fan of it, whilst I see its merits, I think had people used the site in the correct manner and obeyed the rules, there would be no need! but alas, that was not to be!
At least the Enable\Disable function is there, if anything it will save the MODS wasting their time having to warn people all the time, that in itself is a bonus.

While it has it's merits, i personally thing it's lazy programming on admins behalf. An individual blocker would have been far better, and quite easy to implement, but i'm pretty sure their extremely busy and have other things to worry about, so i guess it will have to do for now.

Padds: You're right - if folks played by the rules and asked before whipsering, then there would be no need for a blocker.
The idea of an individual blocker would be grand too for those persistent Whipserers who won't desist from hurling unwanted attention.
If the 'Ignore List' worked so that anyone listed is automatically blocked from contacting you in the chatroom instead of just blocking e-mails, then it would also be much more effective in controlling the abuse of the whipser mode.
The problem with the Whipser mode is: You don't know where the next whipser is going to come from, so you can't block in defence, it's too random in that respect.
I object to having insults, abuse and lies thrown at me while I'm chatting with friends here - I don't think trying to prevent that could in any way be described as being 'fussy'.

For my Part, I will leave the blocker disabled, Like GK said, you can always ignore, if the whispers become persistent, well post them in the main chat for other users to see, they will learn.
Mr HDC an individual blocker would be great as in a permanent blocker, but I do actually think that exists in your profile settings currently? correct me if I am wrong.
Overall any improvements to the site I feel are welcomed, for my own part I would prefer more time was spent on the timing issue!
The age old " last seen" issue. but like I said thats my own two pennies worth.
There was mention of a multicam room like the other sites in the chat rooms today, as a user of one of the other sites, I do see its merits it is progression and as the site grows I do feel it will be beneficial.
We are lucky on S4I, most of the other rooms on the other Parent sites are limited to 70 users!

No bitching here,,, Any improvements to the site are welcomed,, Like I said,,, I prefer not to use it,,, without going over old ground,,, I am never upset by whispers, infact some have been rather amusing,,, the lost one I got was,,, "So how big are your boobs" my reply was,,, well they are sure bigger than your eyes, had you bothered to take a look at my profile!
Any improvements to the site are most welcomed, as the site progresses and the number of members rise, yes it will have to change.
I go back to my original post,,, the whisper blocker ( or Marie calls it Whipser Blocker lol) is a good tool and shows the site that ADMIN and the ADMIN/MOD team have all our interests at heart. It allows the MOD team to get back in the chat and enjoy the craic like the rest of us do, without having to endure endless and sometimes insulting remarks that are showered on them.

i think admin is trying to accomadate people who have issues with the whispers,myself, it used to piss me off now,i just ignore whispers that i find abusive,or will get the message eventually.
but horses for courses...
who knows this enable disable may just be the first step in a total overhaul of the whispers issue....until then use it dont use it....but please stop bitching about it...
