I put this in the forums a good while a go but never got a response from the powers that be. I was reading the rules on photos (as below)
Photos will be deleted if they contain any of the following:
�Anyone who looks under the age of 18.
�Contain little or nothing of the account holders.
�Photos that are the same or near enough the same as the ones that already exist or existed on profiles.
�Children can be seen - anywhere and in any context.
�People can be seen in the background.
�Animals can be seen.
�Any contact information such as an email address, URL or mobile/telephone number is shown.
�They are too small to be useful or if they have not been cropped correctly.
�If the photo is of poor quality, for example it is too small or too dark.
�The photo is blurred or too difficult to make out.
�They are deemed to be too obscene or inappropriate for this site.
I've seen lots ofprofiles where people have photos / images up which are not them at all and are only cartoons should these images not have been approved in the first place if the rules state otherwise.
Now first and foremost everyone has their right to their privacy and no one has to put up photos at all or if they do to make them public before anyone says that i'm saying or implying.

Peeps r allowed to have photos on Public or Private if they so wish or none at all! But they are allowed to be picture-less, so they're entitled to be. A lot do include a cartoon image to use as a Forum Avatar. So I don't know what your Thread is for. 
Actually it would be nice if there was someway of just adding in a Forum Avatar without having to use it as a picture from your Gallery so you'd have an extra picture if you wanted it. :happy: Or also with the Picture establishing identity number thingy, I'd like to do that but have all my pictures used up. :uhoh:

Style Im not sure exactly what it is your asking or complaining about. I think you have to remember the site is now running since 05 if Im correct, and back then there was little moderation in place to enforce rules. So no doubt there are many pictures that are possibly not of the person at all and are only cartoons. It would be impossible to manually go through or so profiles and assess what should be removed or not.
However there has been a change recently regarding avatars in that they should be loaded directly via browsing your computer for a suitable image, and they don’t come into the for approval section any more, so a member can have an avatar and no approved profile pictures. Avatars loaded in the new system from what I know will only show on forum posts and shouldn’t show on public profile as they are not part of that members pic gallery.
Before the new system was in place all avatars had to be approved as part of pic gallery, so naturally you will come across profiles only showing an avatar, and possibly no real pictures, but they were approved knowing they were for forum use, it was that or have no avatars at all, hence the leeway regarding cartoon pictures in a members gallery.
As I said since the upgrade all avatars now loaded for use do not need approval and are not supposed to be loaded as part of your picture gallery. So currently we have a combination of people correctly using the new system, and others who would have loaded avatars in the old system of getting them approved, it is only when an issue arises over an avatar can we assess if something needs sorting, as I said even using the full compliment of the Mod team it would be impossible for us all to check nearly 60,000 profiles.
So my advise to anyone reading this would be to remove all or any cartoons that have been previously approved to your picture gallery, and just load directly as an avatar, the system is self explanatory to use, that way you can change avatars when it suits you knowing it doesn’t come in for approval, but keeping in mind all avatars should be appropriate in nature for a public forum and not explicit as they will get removed. Hope this helps.
Was never seggusting that someone go through all the profile etc that would take wayyyyyyyy too long and i wouldn't want that job, unless you're offering to pay me for it lmao especially given the amount of profiles on here. Was just making the point that as all the photos here have to be approved before they end up going live on the system then cartoons etc shouldn't end up on profiles. Wasn't talking about the avatars that people use on the forums at all.
As I stated under the old system, cartoon pictures would have been approved for avatar use. It couldn’t be assumed that the intention in loading a cartoon was for anything other then avatar use, hence it was approved under the assumption it was for that purpose and no other, and so there was leeway given regarding the picture rules. Many people would have loaded more then one cartoon picture so they could swap them over, so you will find cartoon pictures that you maintain should not have been approved, but were approved specifically as I said for avatar use. The system is now changed, and there should be no cartoons in a picture gallery if used correctly.
Im confused here as to the point of your exercise in making your point in the first place.
Thought it was fairly obvious what the point was, was just saying that people shouldn't have photos on profile that are not them, don't know how i put it more clearly than that really???. But thanks for clearing things up, much appreciated

Having explained the system we used to work within when approving cartoon pictures and the system that’s in place now, I would have thought it would be fairly obvious to you to see why there was a leeway regarding the picture rules on cartoon pictures. Taking the new system into account your correct in saying they should not be there in picture galleries, but taking the old system into account your incorrect in saying they should not have been approved, and seeing that we now have cartoon pictures loaded under both systems, its not as black and white as you saying they should not have been approved. Eventually over time we should start to see less or no cartoons in the picture galleries.

I am not entirely sure what the issue is here myself, obviously if there is a pic of a cartoon on a profile its not the person themselves, and as someone that has a few humorous images on mine I have them there for that reason, to show my sense of humor.
The lifting of images from other sites issue comes into play if someone decides to lift an image thats obviously from a porn site or another persons profile on this site.
Style can you tell us exactly what your getting.

Was only making the point that photos / images that are not the actual person or person's & are only cartoon's or other such images should not be allowed to be uploaded on profiles but this is only what's in the site rules already so i can't see the fuss about this topic to be honest.
Just letting everyone know there is an ongoing review of the picture galleries at present, so if you find your missing cartoon pictures, that will be because they have been removed to comply with picture rules. As most know there is a new system in place for uploading of cartoons for avatar use, so cartoon pictures wont be allowed in galleries anymore. If you read this and know you have cartoons in your gallery, it would be appreciated if you remove them if we have not done so already. Thanks.
