This is not an original thought on my part but the question did get me thinking.
Can single people be considered swingers?
In this modern age lots of single people have multiple partners before they may find that special someone.
"One night" stands after a night in a club or bar are not unusual.
Singles like couples have their needs.
So why are the singles on here "swingers" and those that enjoy a "one night stand" not?
People on here probably spend more time getting to know the person or persons they are going to meet, unlike the drunken encounters following a night in a nightclub.
If anything there is a degree of honesty by the singles on Swing4 in that they express a preference and openly admit they like sex.
Does liking sex make you a swinger?
Is that what society and the media have reduced an enjoyment of sex too?
Is swinging only for couples?
If you like the occassional 3sum, gangbang or Bi fun does it make you a perv?
Is the term "swinger" an outdated term and no longer suited to life in the 21st century?
well i dont know why you think living in the 21st century means we have a different approach to life alan...its only a number ffs. orgys, one night stands, and indeed "swinging" have been going on for thousands of years, its only the fact that we are living in the information age that has brought it to the forefront of public consciousness. As to your question,......we all have a personal definition of what constitutes a "swinger". None of us is right in absolute terms - our definition is right for us, as yours is for you. Personaly i find all this labeling counterproductive, devisive even, and i refuse to play that particular game wherever possible.
Should I get my coat then? I just wanted to play and have some fun, but if you don't want single people... (all said with big puppy dog eyes and a quivering lower lip)
I want to write something in reply to this thread but my pissed off state is clouding my judgement.

swinging for me is the whole thing of sharing experiences, I primarily had Joined here to meet with couples, as I had been on the scene in the UK when I lived there a few years back and the draw then was the openness and uncompromising and non judgemental attitude of those that swing.
I would Imagine pigeon holing people like this isn't very productive.
Firstly for the record I agree with Titan & Lovebird, Swing4 is a shared experience. It is about making friends with people of like minded views and there is a safety and community spirit. In Swing4 you are not judged.
I would just like to put on record that the question raised is not & never was an attempt to get at the "single members" or any members of Swing4.
Rather it is to question the societal view that
1- a young single guy can "screw all round him, sow his wild oats" and it is seen as a sign of youthful exuberance and amongst his friends he may attain near hero status. However once he is settled down he should conform to societies expected sexual norms. But youthful fun is not "Swinging" . Over the age of 40 an older single guy may be jokingly referred to as "the oldest swinger in town" now more to be pitied than admired.
2- a single girl who enjoys sex - well I won't even print some of the words & descriptions attributed to the women, often by other women.
3- Swinging Couples- because of the Victorian puritanical view & Irish Catholic teachings, they should contain themselves to their bedrooms, only have sexual activity for the pro-creation of children and confess to any impure thoughts they may have. The tabloid press still seem to subscribe to some of the views and certain papers have a very prurient interest in the sex lives of the nearly famous and members of society in general.
Why can the guy be a Casanova, a hero; yet the woman & couples be seen as deviants?
So perhaps the question should really be is the "ring on the finger" or the " we are a couple tag" a handcuff on your sex life or sexual interests, have we yet moved on from the Victorian & catholic standards that persecuted our parents?
in our opinion and this is only our opinion, think the art of swinging is to be able to have fun sexually when there are others in the same room without having any hangups.
so in other words, the singles on here that are looking for one on one meets in our opinion would prob be better off using a dating site.

Ohhh so so disagree with you mr b , A dating site is exactly that , a dating site , I originally joined here because of sex , not looking for a date ,as one of my fave woman n here once said to me after she had been asked out to dinner for the 100th time "I Can Feed Myself") also while im here have to point out that if you look at a lot of the couples profiles , they seem to be in search of bi fems , so theres defo place for singles here ..being the 3rd in a 3sum does not make you less of a swinger than the couple you are with
To swing is to live in a lively, modern, and relaxed style!! That doesn't indicate that you must be should just be infidelious couples, we can be infidelious singles too!!!! I agree biatch...!!

We know that's a generalization, but from past experience here are some problems we have seen. Single guys seem to be self-centered (IE, What's in it for me?). They tend to be rushed (IE. Hi. Let's fuck.) There is a real problem with single males becoming too attached and clingy (IE. Falling in love with the lady). Single guys are viewed as being a greater health risk. Now all that is not to say that a single males can't be successful finding couples. It happens all the time, but you must realize that swinging is still a couples game

I don't think single men or single women meeting one on one is swinging as swinging is meant to be swapping partners or group sex or 3 sums or 4sums etc.....
But those singles who meet couples or meet people for group sex, 3 sums or 4sums etc... could be classed as a form of swinging.
To me singles meeting one on one is either one night stands or nsa fun and not swinging...

Well as a free and single (singlenfree!) guy, I am here for sexual encounters. I would like a date too, but I don't expect to find that here, so I am also on a couple of dating sites for that purpose. I'm not a drinker, so the pub scene for me is not really suitable for meeting people. Either for sex or for dates.
I'm not a serial dater. I just haven't met the person I might settle down with yet. In the meantime though, I don't see why I can't enjoy sexual encounters with openminded people. As long as I make the occasional encounter or date, I don't really fuss about getting into a long term relationship. That'll happen when it happens.
Having said that, this is the only website where I have had no response at all. I meet lots of people through the regular dating sites. This site is primarily suited to couples it seems, and probably the one thing militating against the single guy in particular, is the sheer number of wasters hanging on the site, hoping for some instant thrills. I've tried the chatrooms here, and I find too many guys piling in, and reasonable chat with the ladies becomes near impossible.
I'd be sad to think that singles might not be as welcome here, but then given the behaviour of some, I can see why. It is the only site I can find where people can be far more openminded and honest about what they like. As a single guy, I'd like to be part of that, not feel excluded. It's hard to stand out of the crowd here though. I'm far more comfortable on one to one, not in the crowded chatroom situation. Maybe I need to dye my hair luminous pink, or something, to be noticed!
