As far as i know the Legion as such has been disbanded, it was primary used when France was a colonial power. The soldiers left have been integrated into the main French army. It still exists but now is only on show for ceremonial purposes.
Being unemployed is difficult but opportunities appear when least expected so keep faith and something will turn up. i wish you well . Your little one will always look at you with pride.
