Am getting a tad sick of hearing/reading oh don't whisper me you haven't asked first etc. etc. etc., and then the mods are forced to give their time in having to deal with this. If it is assumed to be the general consensus that Every-one would/should have the pre-authorisation feature enabled and in use, it would mean every-one would get an automatic request message if some-one wants to whisper them where permission IS being sought, and you can then choose to accept or refuse the whisper.
All members now have a blocking feature too, so even if some-one does whisper you without permission all that's necessary to do is, simply select ignore on the whisper request message or block them! Thus freeing up mods time, and avoiding them having to spend time on dealing with un-wanted whispers, - we can now do this ourselves! Issue resolved!
As far as I know, you only get the pre-authorisation whisper request for the very first initial whisper to an individual member - which would work well ideally with a continuous/lengthy whisper to the same person in avoiding permission being sought for every single line whispered lol, but with a whisper where you may allow one single whisper to the same person, - and if you have told the other party you do not wish to continue with the whisper and they continue to do so, ~here~ is where the Block feature is ideal and can come into play.
I can't even remember the old Enter-Chatroom page/screen, but I do think this new one gives more emphasis to and highlights that you must read the rules before entering chat.
If whispers are insulting or against site rules' discussions / etiquette etc., - it might be an idea to bring it to just the attention of Admin who have the chat logs anyway, and they can deal with it appropriately.
Other-wise the clear indication here, is that the addition of the pre-authorisation whisper request feature is a waste of time, and if it's not being used and time is still being spent on un-wanted whispers un-necessarily, it's just a waste of a valid site feature.
