Wasn't looking to contact anyone specifically Zaza. The way i was looking at it if someone is a standard member then the only way they will be able to contact me is if i send them my e-mail address so that's why i was wondering if there was any way to distinguish.

I think this is completely counter-productive. Member page should show if they're paid, since there is absolutely no reason to contact them otherwise.
But really, unsubscribed members should be able to at least reply to messages sent to them. (I, for one, wasn't aware this wasn't the case till now.)

Ah! I've jsut sent a message to someone - never thought about whether they could actually reply to my message or not... when I search for their account with the 'paid members only' tickbox, I see she is not a member... does that mean she has no way of responding to my message????
That's ridiculous!! I had no idea... I could have done that several times.

Folks - Hold your fire!!
There seem to be several different categories of member around here.
Folks who joined the site before June 2008 would not have had to pay for their profile - because this was not a pay-site until then. They could have full or partial access to the facilities of the site - depending on whether they were active members at the time of the changeover - some can answer mail and some cannot - I've discovered in my follow-ups with the members who joined my Groups.
Members who joined after June 2008 would have had to pay for using the site facilities.

Unfortunately yes if the person is a standard member they won't be able to reply unless you send your e-mail address but I don't know if the other person will be able to see the address or not or it might be censored in some way, I'm not sure on that though so I could well be mistaken.

So if i send a non paid member my e-mail address in the usual format for example xyz at some mail provider etc (you get the idea) they will be able to see it and won't be asked to upgrade and so on first? I just don't want to waste my time if they can't is all.

I have noticed a difference in the standard profiles since the upgrade to the site actually as my paid membership expired and before I renewed it I was unable to enter any text at all on my profile so it's likely (but not guaranteed) that profiles like this belong to standard members
